The whole world was turned upside down by the Covid crisis. Our country is no exception. When Manila was placed under Extended Community Quarantine in March 15, 2020, the PFMC frontline group moved quickly to turn the company’s training facility into a full-on production bakery to make an average of 800-1000 loaves daily.
PFMC delivered these daily to the Manila Mayor’s office. Goods were distributed to barangays, police stations, and hospitals, in aid of our fellow Manilenos and frontliners. Our resident bakers brushed fears amid threats of Covid-19 and made sure that bread is served daily, for two months until the declaration of general community quarantine.
In Iloilo, we enlisted the help of Sweetreats bakeshop to produce loaf breads as well. These were forwarded to Mayor Trenas’ office and shared to hospitals, barangays, and frontliners, including soldiers and policemen.
With pledges from bakeries around the country to help us make even more bread, our mill donated sacks of flour to bakeries in Manila, Iloilo, and Bacolod to boost relief efforts. We thank all the good Samaritans who sincerely shared their time, resources, and efforts. We are grateful to your bravery and hardwork. PFMC frontliners – truly, we appreciate your selflessness, perseverance and unwavering solidarity.
