Through an initiative of the Iloilo City Mayor’s Office, Philippine Foremost Milling Corporation (PFMC) will be partnering with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in providing a livelihood program for soon-to-be-released Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) of the Iloilo City District Jail – Male Dormitory Ungka, Jaro.
The training activity, which will be facilitated by the Technical Institute of Iloilo City Molo Campus, will focus on baking and bakery operations. The activity consists of 28 training hours, spread over five days in September and two days in October 2022
The program includes orientation into kitchen operations, lectures for baker’s percent, costing, sanitation and food safety, and hands-on training for breads, cookies, and simple cakes. These baking skills and knowledge on bakery operations are designed to give inmates the confidence to start their own bakery business after they are released.
In support of the program, PFMC will provide flour and other ingredients as well as the trainers for this activity. PFMC looks forward to supporting similar projects designed to help enrich the lives of Ilonggos.
