World Bread Day 2025 Celebration with the Philippine Society of Baking, a nationwide celebration of bread, community, and shared joy

World Bread Day, celebrated annually on October 16th serves as a gentle reminder of the significance of bread—not only as a staple food, but also as a symbol of livelihood, generosity, and community for bakers and bread lovers worldwide. This 2025, Philippine Foremost Milling Corporation (PFMC), a subsidiary of the La Filipina Uy Gongco Group of Companies and one of the largest flour milling companies in the Philippines, proudly joined the Philippine Society of Baking in a series of World Bread Day activities across Metro Manila, Bacolod City, Iloilo City, and other major cities nationwide.

Philippine Foremost Milling Corporation: A Leader in Food Safety and Quality

Driven by its mission to uphold the spirit of sharing bread as a symbol of sustenance, kindness, and unity, PFMC brought both loaves and laughter to various communities. In Metro Manila, warm bread and short engaging activities delighted participants at Sta. Ana Hospital, Hospicio de San Jose, and Fo Guang Mabuhay Temple. In Bacolod City, students and teachers from Saarba Elementary School welcomed the celebration with excitement. Meanwhile in Iloilo City, learners from N.J. Ingore Elementary School, La Paz II Elementary School, and Hibao-an Integrated School enjoyed meaningful bread-sharing moments. Even the patients, doctors, and nurses at West Visayas State University Medical Center experienced a brief but heartfelt pause from their daily challenges through this simple gesture of care.

Across all these communities, the event served as a touching reminder that World Bread Day goes beyond honoring the role of bread in supporting bakers’ livelihoods. It is also about recognizing how something as humble as a slice of bread can brighten a morning, uplift a weary afternoon, or warm a family’s dinner.

To culminate the nationwide celebration, PFMC hosted a Kids’ Cupcake Decorating Activity on October 25, 2025, at the Lafil World Kitchen in Iloilo City. Young participants from various elementary schools and nearby communities eagerly joined in, expressing their creativity and joy through colorful cupcake creations. It was a festive finale—one that celebrated not only the triumphs of bakers across generations, but also the shared journey of passing on the love for bread to both the young and the young-at-heart.
