Bakery has always been a part of who he is. Coming from a family of bakers and shaped by hands-on experience from an early age, baking is more than a livelihood—it is a tradition and a calling. Guided by his passion and driven by his goal to provide a better life for his family, Mr. Arnurfo Rabano of Nerian Bakeshop knows the craft of baking by heart.
From classic and easy-to-bake pan de sal to more specialized pastry products such as tarts and pies, Mr. Rabano’s hands-on knowledge reflects years of learning that began in childhood. Every product he makes carries with it experience, discipline, and respect for the craft.
Originally based in Batangas, Mr. Rabano brought his family to Caloocan City to take over the management and operation of Nerian Bakeshop—guided by a simple but powerful goal: to build a better future through baking.
“Pagdating sa panaderya, importante na naiintindihan mo ang negosyo at may puso ka sa negosyo, para kung umalis ang staff mo, mapapatakbo mo ang negosyo mag-isa (When it comes to the bakery business, you need to know the business by heart. Staff may come and go, but if you have the passion and drive for baking, you can run the business on your own), Mr. Rabano shared.
This same principle led him to partner with Philippine Foremost Milling Corporation.
“Nung nilapitan ako ng supplier, aba, isang kilo lang ang dalang harina. Pero nung PFMC ang pumunta, isang sakong Washington Gold ang dala. Dun ko naramdaman na seryoso sila sa partnership. Kung kaya nilang sumugal ng ganun, seryoso sila sa negosyo (When a supplier approached us, they brought just one kilo of flour. But PFMC came with one full sack of Washington Gold. That’s when we felt how serious the company was. If a brand is willing to invest that much for us, it means they are serious about the partnership), he recalled.
